5 Components of Health-Related Fitness
1.) Cardiovascular endurance
-cardio = heart, vascular = related to blood vessels, and pulmonary = related to the lungs; lasts longer than 90 seconds; most important of components of fitness.
2.) Muscular Strength
force your muscle can exert against resistance for short duration; 0-15 seconds or 2-4 repititions; lifitng heavy amounts of weight 2-3 times weekly
3.) Muscular Endurance
the ability of a muscle to do continous work over a long period of time; by how well your slow twitch muscle fibers are developed
4.) Flexibility
defined as the range of motion about a joint and its surrounding muscles during a passive movement; By increasing flexibility, performance may be enhanced and the risk of injury reduced
